Installation of the 2D Barcode Tools for Crystal Reports package will install a number of files and folders in a folder of your choice – by default this will be c:\Program Files\dLSoft\dBarcodeCR2D. The following items will be created in this folder:
1. A README.TXT file, which may contain information that was not available when this Help system was created.
2. Two dummy barcode images that should be used when graphic placeholders are created in reports
3. One or more sample directories containing example reports suitable for the versions of Crystal Reports selected during installation
4. A folder named System that contains the image creator. For single computer installations this folder should not be moved after installation (if it is moved some of the tools will no longer work!). For Developer installations the contents of this folder may be moved – for example, to a web server – and instructions on installing the image creator are given later.
5. A folder named fonts that contains the fonts used for creating font-based barcodes. These fonts are also registered (with the operating system) during installation.
Installation will also place a User Function Library (UFL) named U25CRDF.DLL in the Windows System32 directory. The UFL provide the facility to create font-based barcodes with reports using a User-Defined Formula. UFLs are restricted to returning 255 characters or less, so the barcodes created using this font-based system are limited in size and typically can contain no more than about 70-80 data characters.
Note: Font-based barcodes produced using trial versions of the tools will create barcodes in which the data is randomly scrambled.
