Barcode Macros for Office is designed to enable the use to create barcodes easily within the Office products Word, Excel and Access. In some cases this is done using macros to convert a select item (text in Word or one or more cells in Excel or Access), to produce either a high quality barcode image or a font-based barcode. The macros are provided in source code form to allow for easy customisation. Consequently they are not “signed” macros and we recommend that the macros you wish to use are copied to your own templates or projects to avoid prompting for permission to enable macros.
The macros function by calling a DLL library, known as the dBarcode DLL. The Barcode Macros Setup program copies the dBarcode DLL to your Windows System32 directory, and places the macro containing files and templates in an installation directory of your choice. Setup also installs the standard versions of the barcode fonts (UNAW, UNBW, UNCW, UNDW, UNEW and UNFW) in your Windows Fonts directory. If your printing technology requires a different version of the fonts then you will need to use the Windows Control Panel to install them from the fonts subdirectory of your installation directory.
The product also includes an Active-X control that allows barcodes to be produced dynamically using data from a cell or field in Excel and Access respectively without requiring the use a macro – although macros can be used to specify the barcode content.
The product also includes an in-cell formula module for Excel, allowing font-based barcode to be created using an in-cell formula.
This release includes samples for Office 2000/2002, 2003 and 2007 for Word, Excel and Access. The samples will be found in the Office 2000, Office 2003 and Office 2007 subdirectories of your chosen installation directory.
