The barcode page enables the barcode type required for a barcode to be selected from the drop-down list of available code types, and a number of the parameters which effect the appearance of the barcode to be specified.
The X unit parameter may be unused (0), or may be set to cause the barcode to resize itself. In this case X specifies the X unit size in mils (NOT mm) which is the standard unit for the narrowest bar used in barcode specifications. In general it should not be less than 10, and must never be less than 8 – or the barcodes will probably not scan.
Other parameters are set by checking or clearing the relevant check box:
Show text - when checked the text form of the code is displayed below the barcode symbol
Justify Text - A 3 state checkbox. When unchecked text under the bars is centered. When checked with a white background the text if left justified to the edge of the light margins, and when checked with a grey background the text is right justified.
Auto check digit - dLabel automatically calculates the barcode’s check digit
Show check digit - the check digit is displayed in the text form
Transparent - the barcode symbol’s background is transparent (allowing the underlying material to show through)
Horizontal bearers - draws bearer bars for those barcode types that support bearer bars
Extend Bearers - extends any bearer bars into the light margin region
Bearer Size – specifies the size in millimeters (if positive) or X units (if negative) of bearer bars. Does not apply to ITF barcode types.
Margin Indicators - displays margin indicator marks for most types
Margin Size – specifies the size in millimeters (if positive) or X units (if negative) of the margin at the side of the first and last bars. Bearer bars extend beyond this margin. Does not apply to EAN/UPC or ITF barcode types.
Extra1 & Extra2 - special coding parameters for some code types, see the barcodes HELP file for details.
Note that if a Bearer Size is specified while the Horizontal bearers checkbox is unchecked, then only a single bearer bar is drawn, above the barcode.
