dLabel can maintain database data in database files that are limited only by the amount of virtual memory specified for your Windows system.
To create a new database file choose the New item of the database menu. The database Fields property page appears, which allows the number of fields to be used within the database to be defined and named.
You can enter a name for each required field in the New field-name box and push the Add to list button after each name has been entered.
Alternatively you can enter just the number of fields required in the Auto-Create box and then push the Create button. In this case the fields are created and named Field1, Field2, etc.
With the field-names specified you can push the OK button and a database is created in memory. Now we can proceed to add data (records) to the database.
At this point you can specify a name for a file in which to save the database. If you don’t do it now you will be prompted to provide a file name later.
Select File from the Database menu. The file property pages appear showing pages to Open an existing dLabel database, Save a dLabel database, and Use or Import data from non-dLabel files.
Select the Save tab to display the Save page. The current database file box is currently empty, so push the Browse button and enter a filename in which you wish to save the database in future.
Enter a suitable name and push the Save button. By default the extension .DLX will be used.
Back in the property pages push the OK button. Any new data records entered will now be stored in the file you have named.
