Creating your first label

Start dLabel. The dLabel window will appear showing an image of an empty A4 page.

While you can design labels and forms which are A4 size, it is more likely that you will wish to design smaller labels - so let’s start by selecting a smaller label.

From the FILE menu choose PAGE LAYOUT.

The Form dialog appears. The first page of this dialog contains a drop-down list of the available label/form sizes available. (The other pages are for customising your own label sizes.)

For the purposes of this tutorial let’s choose the L7163 (2*7) entry from the drop-down list. This specifies two labels across the printer’s page and seven labels down the page.

Push the OK button and the dLabel window image changes to show part of the printer’s page with outlines of some of the labels.

Now from the FILE menu choose PRINT SETUP.

The Print Setup dialog appears. Ensure that your printer is shown in the Name entry (if it isn’t, then select your printer from the drop-down list of available printers). Ensure that the page orientation is correct - i.e. Portrait, and that the paper size is set to A4.

The push the OK button.

Now let’s add some objects to the label.
