Database Auto ID page

The Auto ID page allows the user to automatically generate an ID code when a new record is added to the database and to store that code in a named database field.

The ID generated may be selected using the radio buttons and may be a “Unique ID” (based on the time at which the record was created) or a number sequence ID. In either case the ID may be prefixed by up to 6 alphanumeric characters – which is useful if more than one machine is being used to create records at the same time.

Note that when a sequence ID is selected the next available sequence number is store in the template – so if the user declines to save the template on exit the sequence number will not be updated and duplicate record IDs will be created.
