Inserting OLE Objects

A wide variety of objects may be incorporated into dLabel’s label images, including graphics, mixed font text, spreadsheets and scanned images.

From the Edit menu choose Insert Object. The Mouse cursor changes to crossed wires. Position the cursor on the top left-hand label and, holding down the left mouse button draw a box by dragging the mouse down and to the right. The release the left mouse button.

The Insert Object dialog appears showing a list of the objects currently available on your system. On most Windows systems The Bitmap Image object should be available so we will use this as an example.

Select the Bitmap Image object from the list and push the OK button.

The Bitmap Image object is an In-place active object - i.e. it may be edited within the dLabel Window, although dLabel’s menus and toolbars change to reflect the facilities available within the Bitmap Image editor program. [Some OLE server programs will create a new window overlaying the dLabel window while an object is being edited.]

Draw a picture within the Bitmap Image area. Then click with the left mouse button anywhere on the dLabel window outside of the Bitmap Image.

The screen will be redrawn with the normal dLabel menus and toolbars and with the picture displayed on each label image.

Variable font text elements may be inserted as Word for Windows or WordPad OLE objects.
