Introduction

dLabel is a label and form printing program that runs in the Microsoft Windows environment. Label images may be created containing any combination of internal object (text blocks, lines, boxes, barcodes and pictures) and external (OLE) objects, and each object may be positioned anywhere on the face of the label.  dLabel will produce hard copy output on any of the graphics printers supported by Microsoft Windows.

The content of text and picture objects may be fixed or derived from dLabel’s built-in database.

dLabel allows the user to save the label layout in a label file, and to build up a library of labels on disk. Database records may be imported from word processing applications, such as Microsoft Word for Windows, or spreadsheets, such as Excel, or from ASCII files created with a suitable editor/word processor.

This guide consists of four sections - the first of which is this introduction. The second explains how to install dLabel on your system, how to start dLabel, and then provides an example of the creation of a label image and database, the printing of a few labels, and the editing of label’s appearance. This section serves as a tutorial. The third section contains a number of How To descriptions for performing specific operations with dLabel - such as placing text and pictures objects onto a label image, and printing labels. The final section is a reference section, and provides a description of the facilities available through each of the pull-down menus on the dLabel display.
