Operation at Point of Sale

Once you have your items barcoded and the item details in the database you are ready for action. From the Control Centre push the Start button.

An empty Sale form is displayed, and the cursor is flashing in the Scan code near the bottom of the window.

If you have a barcode scanner scan one of your items. Otherwise you will need to type in the complete barcode number for an item and then push the Enter key.

If all is correct the item details appear in the list at the top of the windows and the boxes at the bottom of the list are updated to show the number of items and lines in the list and the total cost and sales tax (if any) accumulated so far.

If you need to change the number of items of this type that the customer is buying just push the Change Last Quantity button, type in a number and press the enter key.

Now scan or enter some more items

Details are updated each time a barcode is scanned.

Now choose the type of sale by pushing either the Cash or Card buttons (we will come back to the Invoice button later!).

If you push the Cash button the colours of several change to indicate the type of sale, the Complete button is enabled and the cursor appears in the Tendered box, allowing the operator to type in the amount of cash handed over by the customer, followed by the Enter key. The amount of change due appears in the Change box.

If all is well, push the Complete button; if a receipt printer is connect a receipt is printed, and if a cash drawer is connected it opens. You are now ready for the next sale.

If you pushed the Card button then the Complete button is enabled, but should not be pushed until you have carried out the card transaction. Then again the receipt will be printed.

If the printer misbehaves (such as the paper running out) the receipt may be reprinted by holding down the Control key and pressing the Clear button.
