dLSoft Application Note 01991 Installation problem with dBarcode-32 DK and dBarcode-2D DK Problem Version 5.01 of dBarcode-32 DK and dBarcode-2D DK were created using a new version of Microsoft's C compiler and require the presence of updated version of some Microsoft DLLs (MFC42.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL among others). The Setup disks for the kits include the new versions of the Microsoft Libraries. Some users who had a previous version of one of the Developer Kits, or software from third parties, installed on their systems have found that Setup halts with an "Error in Move data - 119". This occurs when the Setup attempts to self-register the kit's dBarcode OCX controls, which in turn require the presence of the new Microsoft Libraries. If old libraries are present on the target system Setup does not replace these until the computer has been rebooted, so they are not available for the self-registration process, and Setup fails. Resolution At the present time we are unable to self-register the OCXs during setup. The self-extracting EXE files provided on our web site have been modified to remove the registration process, and this may result in the developer having to manually register the OCX(s) with the operating system by using the REGSVR32 dbcocx32.ocx command as described in the Readme.txt file installed during setup. Users who purchased version 5.01 and who have this installation problem may download the updated version or request replacement disks from DL Technology. The versions of the Microsoft DLLs distributed with the dBarcode Developers Kits are: MFC42.DLL version: 6.00.8267.0 dated: 26 September 1998 MSVCRT.DLL version: 6.00.8337.0 dated: 28 December 1998 DL Technology 01/99
